Branding -> Appearance in your admin sidebar.
How the platform feels around your colours: what sits behind the trader app, how the panels lie on that, how round the corners are and which fonts everything is set in. Your name, logos and colours are under Global.
The form is on the left. On the right is a drawing of the trader app in the settings as they stand in the form, before you save: on a desktop or on a phone, or the admin panel your team works in. It uses the same panels, colours and tokens as the real app, so a choice looks there the way it will for a trader. While a background shows, the drawing is in the mode the background is made for, because that is what traders get. Without one you can switch it between light and dark.
Under the drawing, the screen lists everything that will not look the way you expect, one line each, and then says who sees all this. Clicking a warning takes you to the field that fixes it. A warning never stops a save.
Who can change what
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
view_branding | Open the screen, read every setting and the drawing |
manage_branding | Change and save everything on it |
Without manage_branding the screen says so once, every field is shown but
locked, there are no upload buttons, and there is no save bar.
Background
An image or a short looping video behind every page of the trader app, the terminal included. The admin panel never shows it.
- Picture or video: JPG, PNG or WebP, or MP4 or WebM, up to 25 MB. Click the drop area or drop a file on it. Pictures are fitted to 2560 by 1600. A video is stored as you upload it, so keep it short and small: every trader downloads it on every visit, and the screen warns above 12 MB.
- Focal point: once there is a background, the picture itself is shown at its own proportions with a point on it. Click or drag to move the point, or use the arrow keys (Shift moves ten at a time). It decides what stays in view when a screen crops the picture: a desktop is wide, a phone held upright shows only a narrow strip. Switch the drawing to Phone to see that strip. Use the middle puts the point back.
- Still, for a video: shown instead of the video to traders who asked for less motion, in their own settings or in their operating system, and while the video loads. When you upload a video the screen takes a still from it in your browser. You can choose a picture of your own instead, a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 5 MB, fitted to 1920 by 1200. Without a still those traders see no background at all, and the screen warns about it.
- Show it: turns the background off without deleting the file.
- Made for light or dark mode. A background decides the mode: while it shows, traders see the app in the mode chosen here, and their own light and dark switch is set aside. A pastel picture under dark panels is unreadable, and so is a night sky under light ones. The screen guesses from the brightness of what you upload, and you can overrule it.
- Logo for dark mode or for light mode, only when the background needs one you do not have. A dark background with only a light-mode logo puts that logo on dark glass, and a light background with only a dark-mode logo shows the Propper mark, because the app shows a dark-mode logo only next to a light-mode one. The row shows your mark on your own sidebar in that mode, and takes a PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP or WebP of up to 2 MB. It is saved into the same place as the logos on Global, where you replace or remove it later.
- Glass tint, optional: a colour the glass is nudged towards, so the panels look like part of the picture. Pick it with the swatch, type a hex value, or use Take from the picture, which finds the colour the picture carries most of. A grey picture has none, and the screen says so. Empty keeps the glass neutral.
Panels
How the sidebar, the header and every panel lie on the background.
- Glass lets the background show through, blurred. Strength sets how much it hides, from 30 to 90 percent: lower is more see-through, higher reads more easily. Until you set one, the standard applies, and it follows the background: 58 percent on a dark one, 64 on a light one. Use the standard goes back to it once you set your own. The screen warns below 45.
- Solid panels hide the background, which then shows only between them.
Without a background the panels are solid either way. In the terminal, traders choose for themselves, and the panels there are nearly solid unless a trader asks for more.
Corners
Sharp, subtle, standard, soft or round: 0, 4, 8, 12 or 16 pixels as the base radius, with 8 as the platform's own. Panels, fields, buttons and menus scale from it, in the trader app and in the admin panel. The arrow keys move between the options.
Fonts
One font for text and one for figures and code, each shown set in itself. Text is everything people read: headings, labels, buttons and amounts. Figures and code are the symbols, prices and ids in the terminal, the journal and the news.
Pick one from the list, or upload your own: a WOFF2 or WOFF file of up to 2 MB. A variable font covers every weight in one file. A font with a single weight works too, and the browser then makes the bold itself. Your own font becomes an option like the others, with a way to replace or remove it. Removing it goes back to the platform's own font.
Who sees this
The screen counts the traders who see the background, the panels, the corners
and the fonts, and the people on your team who get the corners and the fonts in
the admin panel. When items are switched on it also counts the traders wearing
a background from Items, because theirs shows
instead of yours. Each count needs the permission to see that group of people:
view_traders for traders, view_team for your team. Without it the line says
the same without a number.
Saving
Saving sends only what you changed. A colleague who changed another setting on this screen, or anything on another branding screen, while you had it open keeps what they saved. The corners and fonts apply to the admin panel around you the moment the save lands, without a reload. Leaving with unsaved changes asks first, and Cmd or Ctrl+S saves.

Things worth knowing
A new background starts over. Uploading a new picture or video puts the focal point back in the middle and replaces the still, because both belong to the file they were chosen on.
Removing deletes the file. Removing the background and saving deletes it from storage, together with its still, and replacing it deletes the old one. Keep your own copy.
A trader's own background goes over yours. A trader wearing a background from Items sees that one, without your focal point or tint.
Only the standard design uses this screen. On Propper - OG or Tactical what you save is kept for the day you switch to the standard design.
In the older designs
A firm on Propper - OG or Tactical keeps the screen it launched with: the background and glass as two switches at the top, the upload with its mode and tint, the strength, the corners and the fonts in panels, and a preview of the trader app beside them. That screen has no focal point, no still of your own, no logo for the background's mode, no phone or admin panel drawing and no count of who sees it. Its strength starts at 60 rather than the standard, and every save there stores the strength the slider shows. It says that its settings only apply on the standard design.
