**Branding -> Status page** in your admin sidebar.

Your firm has a public status page that says whether the platform works: the
state of each part of it, how it held up over the last day to ninety days, and
the incidents now and before. Traders go there when something seems down, so it
carries your name, logos and colours rather than ours.

The form is on the left. On the right is a drawing of the page as it stands in
the form, before you save: on a quiet day or during an incident, on a desktop or
a phone, light or dark, in any of the platform's languages. It is the real
page's own layout, with made-up parts and incidents, so you can judge how a
colour reads in an outage without waiting for one.

Under the drawing, the screen lists everything that will not work or look the
way you expect, one line each. Clicking one takes you to the field that fixes
it, or to **Domain** when that is where it is fixed. A warning never stops a
save.

## Who can change what

| Permission | What it allows |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| `view_branding` | Open the screen, read every setting and the drawing |
| `manage_branding` | Change and save the text, images and colours |
| `manage_domains` | Set up or change the own address, and check its DNS |
| `view_domains` | Follow a warning about your domain to **Domain** |

Without `manage_branding` the screen says so once, every field is shown but
locked, and there is no save bar. Without `manage_domains` the address is shown
with a line saying who can change it.

## Address

The page answers at two places:

- **On your domain**, at `/status`, for example `trade.yourfirm.com/status`. This
works as soon as your domain is verified on **Domain**, with nothing else to
  set up.
- **An own address**, a subdomain that opens only the status page, such as
`status.yourfirm.com` or `status.uptime.yourfirm.com`. **Set up** asks for the
optional word in between, and the screen then shows the one DNS record to add
at your domain provider: a CNAME from that name to the platform, each with a
copy button. **Check DNS** looks for it right away, and the platform also
checks by itself every few minutes. Once it is found the address says
**Working**, with the moment it was verified.

Changing the own address takes effect the moment you save it in its dialog, and
the new name waits for its record again. The dialog says so when the address
that works now is about to stop. This is the same setting as on **Domain**, so a
change on either screen shows on both.

The header of the screen says where the page is live, and **Open status page**
opens it in a new tab.

## Text

- **Heading**: beside the logo at the top, up to 100 characters. Empty shows
  your firm's name.
- **Description**: a line under the heading, up to 300 characters.
- **Link text** and **Link address**: a link at the top right, to your support
for example, so somebody looking at an outage has somewhere to go. The text is
up to 50 characters, the address up to 255 and starts with `https://` or
`http://`. The link shows only where it has both. Without it the header says
  **Status** in that place.

### Per language

The **Language** picker above the fields starts on **All languages**: the text
you write there shows to every visitor, whatever language they read. Choose a
language to write a version of the heading, the description or the link text
for the visitors who read that one. Each field falls back on its own: a Dutch
heading without a Dutch description shows the Dutch heading over the description
for all languages. The link address is the same in every language.

In a language, every field shows what it falls back to as its placeholder, and
the drawing switches to that language. The picker marks the languages you wrote
your own text for, and the header counts them. A dot in your colour beside a
language means it holds a change you have not saved yet, a red one that the last
save failed on a field in it. The screen warns when the link has an address but
no text in some language, because it does not show there.

The rest of the page, such as the banner, the time ranges, the names of the
levels and of the parts it lists, is in the visitor's language by itself.

## Logo and favicon

Three images for the status page alone. An empty one uses the logo or favicon
from [Global](/docs/platform/admin/branding#global), and each row says which one
the page shows now.

- **Logo**: shown in light mode, and in dark mode when there is no dark logo.
- **Logo for dark mode**: shown in dark mode, and in light mode when there is no
light logo. The screen warns when only one of the two exists.
- **Favicon**: the icon in the visitor's browser tab, shown in a drawing of a
  tab with the page's title.

The logos take a PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP or WebP, the favicon an ICO, PNG, JPG or
WebP, each up to 2 MB. Drop a file on the row or use **Upload**. **Remove** goes
back to the one from Global when you save, and **Undo** takes a pick or a
removal back before that.

## Colours

- **Accent**: the link at the top and the chosen time range. Empty uses your
firm colour for the time range and the text colour for the link.
- **Operational**, **Degraded performance**, **Partial outage** and **Major
outage**: the colour of each level on the bars, the dots and the banner.
Empty uses the standard green, amber, orange and red. **Standard colour for
  every level** empties all four.

Each colour is a hex code, `#rrggbb` or `#rrggbbaa`, typed or picked. The screen
warns while a code is incomplete, and when two levels share a colour, because a
visitor could not tell them apart.

## Saving

Saving sends only what you changed, down to a single field in a language. A
colleague who changed another field on this screen, or anything on another
branding screen, while you had it open keeps what they saved. Leaving with
unsaved changes asks first, and Cmd or Ctrl+S saves. When a save fails on a
field in another language, the screen opens that language and scrolls to the
field.

## Limits

| Field | Limit |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------- |
| Heading | 100 characters, per language |
| Description | 300 characters, per language |
| Link text | 50 characters, per language |
| Link address | 255 characters, `https://` or `http://` |
| Logo, dark logo | 2 MB, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP or WebP |
| Favicon | 2 MB, ICO, PNG, JPG or WebP |
| Colours | Hex, `#rrggbb` or `#rrggbbaa` |
| Word in the own address | 63 characters, letters, numbers and hyphens |

## Things worth knowing

**The page keeps working when the platform does not.** It reads its figures from
a database of its own, so it can still say that something is down while the rest
of the platform is.

**Removing deletes the file.** Removing an image and saving deletes it from
storage, and replacing one deletes the old file. Keep your own copy.

**The parts it lists are the platform's.** The page lists the parts of the
platform it watches, the same for every firm and named in the visitor's
language, and you write nothing per part.

## In the older designs

A firm on Propper - OG or Tactical keeps the screen it launched with: the same
logos, text, link and colours in panels, with a preview of the top of the page.
That screen stays locked until the own address passes its DNS check, writes one
text for every language and does not show where the page lives. It keeps
whatever was written here per language. Tactical's own status page uses your
primary colour instead of the accent set here.
