**Traders -> Items** in your admin dashboard.

Items are what a trader can put on: a background behind the whole app, a banner
across the top of their profile, a frame around their avatar and an overlay on
top of it, a title in italics under their name, and the font that name is set in.
Every item is yours. You make it, you name it, and nothing on it says which
platform it runs on.

You need `view_items` to open the screen and see who has an item, and
`manage_items` to make, change, give, take back, hide, move, duplicate or delete
one, and to change the two settings. Somebody with only the first sees
everything, with the fields switched off and a line saying why. The Activity tab
also needs `view_activity_logs`, and a trader's name only leads to their page
for whoever has `view_traders`.

## The list

The screen opens on the list alone, across its whole width, and shows no item in
full until you pick one.

Each row is an item with its picture, its name and its type, how rare it is, how
many traders have it on, when it last changed, and who has it: everyone while it
is free, else how many traders own a copy. A hidden item says so beside its name.
As the list gets narrower the less important columns leave first.

In the default sort the list is in the order traders see their collection: by
type, with a heading per type, and within a type in the order you put them. Move
an item up or down from its menu or the menu of its row, and traders see the new
order straight away.

The line under the name counts your items, how many are worn right now, how many
are free and how many are hidden. Free and hidden are also filters: click one to
see only those. While items are switched off for traders the line says so first,
and clicking it opens the settings.

Search finds an item by its name or its id. The filter menu sorts the list
(collection order, name, newest, most owners, most worn, rarest or last changed)
and narrows it by type, by rarity, by who has it (every trader, or only who owns
a copy) and by whether traders see it. Search, filters, sort and page live in
the address, so a link shows the same list.

`J` and `K` move through the list and Enter opens the lit item. Right click a row
for everything you can do without opening it: see who has it, give it to
traders, move it up or down, hide or show it, duplicate it, copy its name, id or
link, and delete it.

## An item

An item opens beside the list, which folds into a column, and has its own
address, so a link from the command palette, or one you copy and send, opens on
it. The cross or Escape folds the list back to the same filters and page.

The head shows the picture and the name as traders see it, its type and rarity,
its place among the items of its type, and its id (click it to copy). Under that,
whether items are off for traders, and whether this item is hidden or free for
everyone. Then the rarity, who has it, who wears it (and how many of them without
a copy of their own), when it was made and when it last changed, and by whom.

The button in the head is what you most likely want next: **Show to traders**
while it is hidden, else **Give to traders**. The more menu holds the rest.

### Setup

The first tab is the item itself, saved with the save dock at the bottom.

The type is fixed once the item exists, because a frame that turned into a title
would end up in the wrong place for everybody wearing it. Duplicate an item to
start a new one from it.

| Type | What you give it |
| ---------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Background | A picture or a looping MP4 or WebM video, up to 25 MB, and whether it is made for light or dark mode. Optionally a tint, as a hex colour. |
| Banner | A picture or a looping video, up to 25 MB. It is drawn three times as wide as it is tall. |
| Frame | A picture up to 8 MB, drawn around the avatar and slightly larger than it. A transparent PNG or WebP with a ring in it works best. |
| Overlay | A picture up to 8 MB, drawn over the avatar at the same size. |
| Title | Only its name, which is the text shown under the trader's name. |
| Name font | A family from a list of sixteen display fonts, each shown in itself, or your own WOFF2 or WOFF up to 2 MB, with an effect: plain, a gradient, a shine or a glow. |

Pictures can be PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF. An animated GIF or WebP keeps moving, and
is turned into WebP on upload. SVG is not accepted, because it is a document that
can carry script. Picking a file fills in an empty name from the file's, and for
a background suggests light or dark from how bright the picture is.

Every item has a rarity, from common to mythic. Today it is a label on the item.
It is what supply drops and the marketplace will weigh odds and prices on when
they come.

**Every trader has it** gives the item to every trader at your firm, now and the
ones who join later. **Shown to traders** off hides it from every trader,
including those wearing it, without taking it from anyone.

Only what you changed is sent when you save, so a switch a colleague flipped from
the list while you had the item open stays as they set it.

The column beside the form shows the item on a trader, in your colours, corners
and fonts, and follows the form as you type, pick a file or a colour. A
background is drawn as the trader app sitting on it, in the mode it forces, with
your panels as glass and the buttons in its tint when backgrounds may recolour
the interface. Every other item is drawn where a trader meets it: the head of
their profile, a row of a leaderboard and a card of their collection, in light or
dark as you choose above it. Under the drawing it warns about:

- items being switched off for traders
- a gradient or a shine without its second colour
- a video your browser could not take a still of
- an item that is hidden, and how many traders who wear it lose sight of it
- turning off **Every trader has it** while traders wear it without a copy of
their own, since they lose it
- an item nobody owns that is not free, so no trader has it

A new item is made in the same place: **New item** opens the form beside the
list, starting on the type the list is filtered to, and the dock creates it.

### Who has it

The second tab lists every trader with a copy of their own, newest first, with
who on your team gave it to them, whether they have it on, and since when. Giving
is the only way to a copy today. The battle pass, supply drops, the shop and the
marketplace will be others once they are built. Switch to **Wear it** to see everybody who has it on right now, which for a
free item includes traders without a copy. Search by name, email address, handle
or id. It shows 25 at a time.

**Take back** removes a trader's copy after asking. It also takes the item off
them if they have it on, unless it is free and they still have it that way. If a
colleague took it back first, it says so and changes nothing.

**Give to traders** opens a window that offers the traders active most recently,
and finds anybody else by name, email address, handle or id. Pick up to 50 at a
time. Staff do not come up, and somebody who has the item already is marked and
cannot be picked. The message after giving says how many were given and how many
had it already.

A trader you give a free item to keeps it when you turn off **Every trader has
it** later. That is how to keep an item for the traders who earned it while it
stops being free for the rest.

### Activity

The last tab shows what happened to the item: when it was made, every change
your team saved with the old and the new value, each move in the order, and who
it was given to or taken back from, newest first. **Full activity log** opens the
[Activity log](/docs/platform/admin/activity-log) searched for its name.

## Duplicating and deleting

**Duplicate** makes a copy with the same type, rarity, look and files, named
"Copy of" the original, at the end of its type. It starts hidden, so you can
change it before traders see it. It does not copy who owns the original.

**Delete** asks first and says how many traders own the item and how many have
it on. It takes the item from all of them for good and deletes its files.

## Settings

**Settings** in the list's header opens two switches over every item at once,
saved with the same dock. Beside them, what each switch reaches today: how many
items traders see and how many of those are free, how many traders wear an item,
and how many tinted backgrounds there are and who wears them.

**Items for traders** turns the whole feature on or off. On, traders get a
Collection page in their menu. Off hides it everywhere, including the items
traders already have on, and turning it back on puts them back. It ships off.

**Backgrounds recolour the interface** decides what a background's tint does.
On, the tint replaces your brand colour while a trader has that background on,
the way a skin in a game turns the whole screen its colour. Off, your brand
colour stays and the tint only colours the glass of the panels. It ships on.

## What traders see

Traders open **Collection** from their menu. It lists every item you show them
that they may put on, free or given, by type and in your order, with what they
have on at the top. One of each type can be on at a time, and putting one on
takes off whatever was in that slot.

A frame, an overlay, a banner, a title and a name font show wherever the trader
appears: the sidebar, the account menu, the event and affiliate leaderboards and
their profile. A background only shows to the trader wearing it, behind their own
app, where it outranks the background you set under Appearance (see
[Branding](/docs/platform/admin/branding)).

Traders also pick up to six items with a star for the showcase on their profile,
in the order they pick them. In the standard design they can move one earlier or
later afterwards, and search their collection and narrow it by type, by what they
have on and by rarity. An item they lose, because you took it back, made it
no longer free or hid it, drops out of their showcase by itself.

On a design other than Default a background has nowhere to go, so traders there
are not offered backgrounds at all, not to put on and not for the showcase.

## Motion

A background or a banner can be a video, and a frame, overlay or banner can be an
animated picture. A trader who asked for less motion, in their settings or their
operating system, sees a still instead. For an animated picture the still is its
first frame, made on upload. For a video your browser takes the still when you
pick the file. If it cannot, the form says so, and those traders see nothing in
its place.

## Storage

Item files are kept with your branding and count towards your storage under
Branding on the [Storage](/docs/platform/admin/storage) page. Replacing or
deleting an item deletes its old files, and a duplicate has files of its own.

## In the older designs

A firm on Propper - OG or Tactical keeps the screen it launched with: the two
settings above a grid of cards per type with a filter row of types, the preview
on the right of the item you picked, a window to make or edit an item, and a
window per item that gives it to one trader at a time and lists its owners.
Those designs have no list with search and filters, no address per item, no
Activity tab, and no moving or duplicating. They also warn that backgrounds only
show in the Default design.
